Using a Computer as a Study Aid and not a Hindrance

How can you work with a computer in your home to be an asset and not a hindrance for your child? Computers have become a household staple and can serve as an asset or a distraction when it comes to studying and learning. By learning to use the computer to help your child to study, you will be using this amazing tool as a tool and not as a hindrance to learning.

One of the most useful ways to use a computer for a study aid is to enroll your child into online tutoring. Online tutoring can be a way for you to help excel your child’s learning in almost any subject. And, with the flexibility of being online, there will be additional access to resources that would not be otherwise available during normal business hours.

Encourage your child to use their computer to help them to learn, not to distract them from learning. Work to establish a routine for computer time as well. Limit the amount of time that your child has access to the computer and if possible, put the computer in a location other than their bedroom.

While the computer and the internet can present tremendous learning opportunities, it can pose a significant distraction when it is used as an alternative to learning.
